Pumpkin spiced latte anyone? The leaves are beginning to change, the days are getting shorter and you can feel that crispness in the air. Time to get out those cozy sweaters and boots and enjoy all the beauty CT has to offer in the Fall.
For us, Fall is all about back-to-school, new beginnings, fabulous festivities, nourishment and the sense of turning in-ward. Your food should reflect the seasonal shifts with nutrient-rich warming foods that offer cellular nourishment resulting in beauty benefits for your skin. At Embody Wellness Company, we believe deeply in listening to our body and the seasons through the foods that we eat and our self-care practices that fuel our body and soul.
Wondering what foods are seasonal? Make a trip to your local farmers market and get to know your local farmers. We love our weekly visits to Westport Farmers Market (www.westportfarmersmarket.com), Sport Hill Farm market in Easton (www.sporthillfarm.com — they have a fabulous pumpkin patch too!) and Nit Noi for our Bone Broth (www.nitnoiprovisions.com) as we use it as the base to many of our seasonal stews and soups.
Time to get inspired by our favorite Fall beauty foods along with clean and simple recipes (p.s., each of these ingredients you can not only eat but ALSO put on your skin for glowing benefits).
Apple
Our most cherished Fall memories are always apple picking and selecting the kids pumpkins to carve! Apples not only are sweet, but they also have immune-boosting, liver cleansing and disease preventing properties. Apples are a great detoxifier and contain acids that help remove impurities from the liver and gallbladder. They are also rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants. For glowing skin, always start with foods that are detoxing and loaded with antioxidants.
Gluten, Grain and Guilt-Free Apple Pie!
Pumpkin
Don’t just carve your pumpkins, eat them (seeds and all!). Pumpkins are packed with anti-aging antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene and are also a rich source of B-vitamins and important minerals like calcium, potassium, and phosphorus. They too are immune-boosting!

Kale
We all know Kale is a superfood. Make a conscious effort to eat more of it. Kale is an anti-cancer and skin-loving powerhouse that contains phytochemicals, antioxidants for prevention and is loaded with nutrient-rich vitamins. It also contains sulfur which has potent antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that work to boost to the immune system and decrease inflammation. When your body is properly detoxing, it’s apparent in the glow and tone of your skin.
Alkalizing Green Energy Soup

Sweet Potato
Sweet Potatoes not only taste like a dessert, but they are also packed with antioxidants like beta carotene, vitamins C, E & D, minerals such as manganese and iron and gut-loving fiber. We love the anti-stress properties from the magnesium as well. They are also powerful anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory foods that fight free-radicals in your system. All of these properties benefit your skin and hair at a cellular level. Eat them with the skins on for added nutrients (hello fiber!).

A note from our ORGANACHS founder, Siobhan –
We can grasp the idea of a nutritious diet, so we can now understand how to best feed our skin with nutrient-rich skincare. Skincare filled with important nutrients are key to healthy, glowing skin. Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical serum, is a great example, packed with vitamins and minerals in their formula through their 21 day Phyto Radiance Infusion. “The benefit of this unique approach is that the formulas honor the intrinsic relationship between the body and the natural world, which enables them to communicate with skin at a deeper, fundamental level.”
Perfect for autumn weather, the seasonal facial oil, Autumn facial oil from de Mamiel. Each season a uniquely blended formula is carefully developed over many months to ensure your skin is nourished through seasonal change. Repairing and uplifting, Autumn facial oil is active with sandalwood, Ginger Lily, Prickly Pear and Amaranth.
